L+T with Grace Titus: Save Yourself

One song, One Question

The song: Save Yourself by Grace Titus

The question: Why did you pick these songs to share?

The answer: I chose the original songs that I picked because I think they have the most powerful messages of the songs that I have written. My first one, Save Yourself, talks about religion and that’s often something a lot of people don’t talk about with music.

Being 16, I wasn’t really religious growing up or anything like that. My point of view on religion is probably different than someone who grew up with it so telling my story with that is interesting as well as how it effect people.

I think people often use religion to mask things that would usually have a negative connotation. I think me talking about that is important.

I also chose Golden Boy because it also talks about high school boys who have made choices and have grown up with so much praise, like “I love you so much” from their parents and they haven’t had the consequences that teach them the lessons they need to learn.

So those two songs definitely have had the most meaning for me and I think other people can take from that.
